Development
of light BICh-20, the BICh-21 similar size and general layout...
but with 11 times more powerful engine and pneumatically retractable landing gear. Wooden
aircraft was built very clean, ailerons and elevones were integrated. Project was launched in
1938,
BICh-21 was ready in
1940.
The only design correction implemented after wind tunnel trials was
increased tailfin. Flight trials started in
1941
and were interrupted by the War. Aircraft was easy to fly, it was stable and had good
response to control. The speed record for the engine class was registered - 417km/h.
