Founded in 1932 as GVF factory at Khimki (than Moscow suburb). After V.P.Chkalov death, named after him.
In 1936 N.N.Polikarpov bureau was part of Factory 84.
In 1938 - 1940 KB lead by V.I.Levkov (hydrofoil boats L-1 and L-5 designed and built here here). V.F.Bolkhovitinov - BBS(?).
