Development of the MiG-3, with the AM-35A engine. New wooden fuselage without central tube frame, cleaned water radiator, raised tailfin, oil cooler intakes in the wing roots, lighter landing gear, powerful cannon armament.
It was much closer to original N.N.Polikarpov 'Kh' project.
Performance was superior to one of the MiG-3. Series production was discussed, but was found unnecessary in 1943. Lavochkin and Yakovlev fighters production was increased, those aircraft fulfilled performance requirement.
Six were built, used on Kalinin front with a success.
