La-174 and La-174D ('D' for Dublior, the second prototype) was lighter and smaller development of the La-168 (Type 15). Despite less fuel capacity (1110l inside and 605l in conformal underbelly tank), flight endurance was longer than one of the predecessor due to more economical engine.
Flight tests in August-September 1948 were successful from the beginning, and mass production of the La-174D started in August 1948 (before end of trials!) under designation La-15.
