The first powered aircraft designed by O.K.Antonov. Motorized glider, flying 'inhabited' thick (1.47m maximum) wing with twin-boom tail. Special airfoil was suggested by professor V.N.Belyaev. Wooden wing with stressed plywood skin.
Engine had NACA cowling with individual tunnels for each cylinder.
Nine cargo bays were located in the wing (largest one - 2.4X1.5X1.2m) with access from above.
Flight tests started on April 20, 1937 (pilot N.I.Fedoseev). LEM-2 was able to takeoff with crew and full fuel load. Tug assisted takeoff allowed to carry extra 1300kg of cargo.
No series production followed, when the idea of motoglider was abandoned.
