Small low-wing sport monoplane, somewhat related to American "Gee-Bee" type. NV-1 was of mixed construction, including soft steel tubes frame, wooden wing, fabric skin except the tail, where aluminum was used. Fixed landing gear had no amortization, relying completely on pneumatic tires.
First flown in September 1933 by V.P.Chkalov. Nine flights were performed. Aircraft fas found very demanding, it put too much stress on the pilot.
It was obvious that such a small monoplane may be considered only experimental and has no practical applications.
