Production variant of the Pe-2, built in series since 1943. Major differences: redesigned navigator's cabin and new turret (Type 'FZ') for heavy 12.7mm UBT machinegun. Modification was made following combat experience. More powerful engines (modification of M-105) were fitted.

Designation 'FZ' stays for Frontovoe Zadanie (Order of the Front).
