Special Role Attacker, built at the TsKB within the armored attacker program. As well as its siblings LSh (TsKB-5), TSh-1 (TsKB-6) and TSh-2 (TsKB-21), it was based on the R-5 biplane reconnaissater.
ShON was armored only under the cockpits. Landing gear construction was revised, wings were folding backwards for storage and transportation.
Eight PV-1 machineguns in the gunner's cabin floor were aimed forward-down for strifing purpose.
Finished on April 1, 1931. Trials continued until Summer 1932. ShON was not accepted for mass production because the very concept of the armored attacker was unclear.
