The first radical modification of the Su-27 heavy fighter. Large basic airframe allowed to make only minimal changes and accommodate instructor's seat while keeping aircraft combat capabilities. The second cockpit is visibly raised (it is located right above nosewheel niche) and covered with common canopy with the pilot. Instructor's cockpit has (almost) as good view as pilot's.
Airdynamic changes demanded to increase tailfins area (raised by 425mm using extra sections). Airbrake is also made longer (by 300mm). Extra hardpoint added under each wing.
Commercial variant Su-27UBK (exported to China and Vietnam) differs by armament and electronic equipment.
