On June 30, 1944 S.P.Korolev submitted a project of high altitude interceptor, based on the La-5 airframe. The 'VI' carried three liquid rocket RD engines. Two - in the underwing fairings, one - in the extreme tail.
Armed with four nose-mounted cannons, VI supposed to 'jump' up to 17,000m to deliver a blow. This particular version was never built, but design studies were later used in construction of the La-7R mixed-powerplant aircraft.
